These photos are from my personal\u00a0 albums taken on a bicycling trip in May 2024.\u00a0 I attempted to capture the lure of these places\u00a0 where ancestors lived, worked, birthed and died.\u00a0 The landscapes were vastly altered after the mines closed.\u00a0 What was once described as an industrial wasteland is returning to a natural state.\u00a0 Earth is reclaiming the land, For me, it is a\u00a0 haunted place of beauty and very distant memory.<\/p>\n

The photos are primarily of the church towns and villages where my Wills<\/strong> ancestors inhabited…Lelant, St Hilary, Towednack and Zennor.\u00a0 The first map below shows where Cornwall is located in relation to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
