Beauvais and Bissonnette

Joseph Bissonnette (1849-1899) and Celine Beauvais (1850-1942) are estimated to have married in 1868 in Cohoes, New York. Joseph’s birth record is yet to be found but his death certificate states his birth year was 1849. He was likely born in Cohoes.

Celine Beauvais  was born in St Cesaire, Quebec in 1850 and baptized in the Roman Catholic church in that village. She immigrated with her parents to Cohoes when she was about ten years old.

Celine had, at least, eight live births during her marriage with Joseph. Only one of the eight, Joseph Junior, outlived her. Three died in childhood; four died as adults from various causes.

This website  will focus on Celine, Joseph, their ancestors and their children especially my grandmother, Elizabeth Celena Bissonnette (1880-1936)  known as “Libby”. “Libby” married John Albert Wills in Cohoes in 1903. Their children and descendants are featured on the Wills pages.
