Robert Millot was the son of Jean Millot and Ad\u00e9laid Robert who were married in the same church, St Francois Xavier,\u00a0 on September 25. 1830. \u00a0Jean was a “cordonnier” – a shoemaker. \u00a0Jean Millot was the son of Joseph Marie Millot and Catherine Wilcott.<\/div>\n

The first record of Robert Millot<\/strong> in Whitehall, New York was the 1850 United States Federal Census of Washington County, New York. His name was recorded as Robert Maloy<\/strong> and he was working and living on the Anthony Rathbone’s farm probably as a day worker. In the 1855 New York State census , his name is spelled Robert Melott.<\/strong> In the 1860 US census, his name is spelled Robert Malott<\/strong>. The 1865 New York State census again records his spelling as Robert Melott.<\/strong>\u00a0 In the 1870, his name is spelled Robert Mylott<\/strong>. In the 1875 New York Census, he is Robert Malotte<\/strong>. In the 1880 US Census, the spelling is back to Robert Mylott<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The spelling Robert Mylott<\/strong> seems to have remained. His headstone in the North Granville Cemetery, New York spells Mylott<\/strong> very clearly.<\/p>\n
